Afrakomah Hannah Sr. is one of three students who were able to pass their Basic education exam to gain admission to the High School in her village of Akrofoso. She is now in her first year of Senior High School. In May 2011, Afrakoma lost her mother which made her an orphan since her father died a long time ago. I want to thank you because thanks to your support I have been able to study, but mainly thanks to God. This year I have learned new things at school and it has been a beautiful and easy year because I passed all my classes. I hope you are doing ok and hope that God is giving you abundant blessings and prosperity.

Merry Christmas and joy to your families! You deserve this and much more! You are great; I appreciate you very much and send you thousand kisses. I hope you had a good time this year, hope you received good things and good news. God bless your jobs, families and mainly your Church.

My family is made up of my uncle Luis, uncle Jorge, uncle Victor (the one I like the most), my sister Diana (the oldest), my sister Angela (the one in the middle), my mother, my father and I. I had a schnauzer dog called Toby. It was white but it was poisoned and died.

Catty my female dog had 4 little puppies. After Toby died I was gifted a Rottweiler dog called Hachi but we gave it away because it was too big and fierce. I recovered from it well and have been enjoying the puppies of my dog Catty. They are three months old and Catty became 6 years old last September 5th.

Sincerely,

Liset Aurora

Dear sponsors:

My family and I send you a special greeting and a hug. I want to share with you that I did very well at school this year. I go to the gym every other day; I am a member of the school’s band; I will turn 15 years old and will graduate from middle school this year.

I also want to tell you that I have enjoyed good health. I like English very much, I like to go out with friends and have a beautiful family. I hope this year that is about to end was a year to fulfill goals. I also hope you are enjoying good health.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! May the New Year bring blessings to you!

I invite you to come to visit Colombia, especially my town El Cocuy which attracts tourism at the national level because of its snowcapped mountain. You are always in my prayers.

With appreciation,

Laura Vanessa

Jhennifer's letter with English translation below

Dear sponsors:

May the benediction of God our Almighty Father be with you today and always!

In this day that I can write to you I give thanks to God for having the support of beautiful and generous people like you. Thank you for the support you gave me this year because my family went through a difficult financial situation. I used the money to pay for school expenses.

I continue to give thanks to God for your lives and jobs. I send you a kiss and a strong and loving hug for Christmas. May all the wishes of your heart come true! May our Lord sustain you!

I would like God to give me the opportunity to meet you this Christmas, to thank you and hug you. Meanwhile, I continue to keep you in my heart today and always. I want to ask you a special favor and that is to pray for a job for my mom and also pray so that my father gets a permanent job close to us so we can be together as family.

Dear sponsors, may this Christmas and the upcoming year bring great blessings and health, unity in the family, but mostly love. This is my and my family’s wish for you with much love and appreciation. Once again thanks. I love you very much!

From: Jhennifer Stefania

Here's Cristian's letter with the English translation below:

Dear and beloved sponsors:

I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is my wish that He blesses you always and also I hope you are doing well. After this greeting, I am writing to you to tell you a little bit about me and my school. I am fine thanks to God. As I had shared with you before, this year I am in 6th grade. I feel it has been a difficult year because I must be more responsible and getting used to this reality has been a little difficult. I have a lot of homework to do every day, I have to do researches on Internet, read books about theater, biographies and literature and write a summary by hand. This is new to me because when I was in elementary school my teachers used to pamper us and the homework we had to do was easier.

I also want to tell you that I attend my Church called Only by Faith, the Church I have always been going to. Three months ago a group of children and I started taking music lessons. I want to learn how to play the drums. They are my favorite instrument and I am good at playing them! This year I do not attend Sunday school but the teenagers group. Twenty days ago I went to a teenagers retreat in a beautiful farm. I had a lot of fun there because there was a big group of people from different Lutheran Churches. We shared a lot, I met new teenagers my age, we played and swam but most important we shared a lot about our Lord’s Word through prayers, songs, Bible studies and playing. Different teenagers from different places in the country attended this retreat and we were really happy for those two days. I wish that this continues to always happen.

I also want to let you know that I appreciate you a lot and you are always in my heart and mind. My mother and I ask Jesus to always bless you and to keep your heart as good as it is. May our Lord prosper you day by day is our wish. I appreciate you very much!

Here is Johanna Alejandra's letter, which is translated into English below. Johanna Alejandra is from Bogota, Colombia and is supported by Givology partner the Emmaus Road Foundation. Johanna will graduate from high school in one month from now and plans to continue on to college next year!

Apreciados Padrinos.

Johanna Alejandra

Dear sponsors:

I am sending you a special greeting and a fraternal hug as we are ending this year.

On behalf of my family and on my own we want to thank you immensely for thinking of us always. In a month I will finish my high school classes and there are mixed feelings about that. On one hand I am happy because I am about to end one more stage of my life, but on the other hand I am also sad because from now on I must leave my family and travel to another city to study at the university. There are no universities in the town I live in now.

It is my plan and also my parents’ to go to a city called Malaga to study at the Universidad Industrial de Santander. There I will start taking introductory classes and depending on the results I get, I will be able to register to study Oil Engineering or Biochemistry.

On behalf of my family and on my own, I want to send a special Christmas greeting and wish you a New Year full of prosperity and happiness. I want you to know that Christmas in my town is full of parties and celebration, a lot of prayers, family reunions and, oh!, a lot of food.

In regards to my career as musician, I continue to practice and learn more and more. I still love the saxophone, I really like it and it is my hobby to practice it. In December we have several performances to make more enjoyable the festivities.

Last but not least, I am happy to be able to share again with you things about my family and myself. I am going to have a lot of fun with my family the days left from this year because next year will bring a lot of responsibilities, studies and maybe loneliness.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I want you to know that you are always in my heart and I ask God in my prayers to bless you and your families.

Talk to you soon.

Johanna Alejandra
