My brother and I came to Peace School when my father died two years ago. My mother could not afford to take care of us so she turned us over to the care of Peace School. Niukasa Musa, my 10-year old brother, is in the Primary 3 class. He lives in the Boy’s Dormitory and I live in the Girl’s Dormitory. My best friend is named Vivian. She is a Muslim like me. On Fridays we go to the Mosque for prayers. Altogether there are three Muslim girls in our dormitory. My favorite subject is science. I would like to be a doctor and help sick people get well. I hope you can help me achieve my dream of being a doctor. Note: Peace Nursery and Primary School is a private school serving orphans and other children unable to afford the costs of attending public schools. Divya Jagadish comes from a family of four. Her family consists of her father, mother and brother. Divya is a very intelligent student, hard working and rarely misses a day of class. Her father is an electrician and mother is a house wife. Though the father has a regular income, it appears to be enough just for day to day sustenance especially in these days of recession. Given this situation, it is a risk that the father would may pull one of the children from school, and since Divya is a girl, it would most likely be her who is deprived of schooling. Her brother would stand a better chance of going to school because it is expected that he will support the family financially when he grows up, while Divya would be married off. Divya's dedication, hard work and the interest that she shows in studies will go a long way to enable her excel in her career. However, this cannot be realized without any financial assistance. Rahab and her older brother Moses were victims of domestic violence. Their grandmother contacted local authorities to report that her daughter, who is mentally disturbed, was abusing her children. Moses was removed from his mother's home after suffering severe burns and other life- threatening injuries. Rahab and Moses became part of the Flying Kites family after their grandmother, who lives in abject poverty, became ill and unable to care for them. During her first few weeks at FKKCC, Rahab refused to leave her brother's side, but after a lot of attention from the matrons, she has joined the other children at nursery school and is slowly beginning to peek out from behind her big brother's shadow.
Expansion of Circle of Peace School

Circle of Peace School project is an educational initiative designed to provide kindergarten and elementary education. Currently, the existing location of the school will be unavailable after December 2009 because the school is being evicted from its existing property. As a result, the school is moving all primary school students to the Upper school where they will have to share space until new shelters can be provided for them. The Circle of Peace School is asking for help to start building structures to allow their students to continue their education. Most of their students are orphans, aids victims whose parents have died, and poor children who can’t afford to pay for education. Currently there are 105 students in the lower school and 100 in the upper school. With these funds, the school will purchase all the necessary materials to begin building.
