I came to Peace School one year ago when my mother died. My father is related to the cook at Peace School and she suggested that I come here to complete my primary education. It has been difficult because the classes here are taught in English. The old school I attended uses our native language Luganda. But I am learning English very fast.   I live in the Boy’s Dormitory with 14 other boys. Ali is my best friend. We study together and play together. I like to study, and English has become my favorite subject.   During the holiday I travel back to my village to see my father and family. It is a long journey.   When I grow up I would like to be an airplane pilot. I would love to look down at the earth from the sky. I would like to visit other countries, especially America. I hope you can help me achieve my dreams by helping me obtain an education.   Note: Peace Nursery and Primary School is a private school serving orphans and other children unable to afford the costs of attendi...

Kampala, Uganda

Until this year I lived with my family in a remote village in the northern part of Uganda. I came to Peace School six months ago. I had never been to school before. After my father died, Mrs. Oliver, who is a teacher at the School, brought me here. She was a friend of my father.   I now live at Peace School with 14 other boys in the Boy’s Dormitory.   During the holidays I go back to my village and stay with my grandfather. I miss my family a lot. It is good to see my mother, brothers and sister. My family speaks Swahili and it has been difficult to learn English and attend a school where classes are taught in English.   My favorite subject is math. Thank you for helping me to get a good education.   Note: Peace Nursery and Primary School is a private school serving orphans and other children unable to afford the costs of attending public schools. As such, it receives no funding from public sources. Located in a suburb of Uganda’s capital city Kampala, the school is in a hig...
Expansion of Circle of Peace School
$3000 of $3000 donated

Kampala, Uganda

Circle of Peace School project is an educational initiative designed to provide kindergarten and elementary education. Currently, the existing location of the school will be unavailable after December 2009 because the school is being evicted from its existing property. As a result, the school is moving all primary school students to the Upper school where they will have to share space until new shelters can be provided for them. The Circle of Peace School is asking for help to start building structures to allow their students to continue their education. Most of their students are orphans, aids victims whose parents have died, and poor children who can’t afford to pay for education. Currently there are 105 students in the lower school and 100 in the upper school. With these funds, the school will purchase all the necessary materials to begin building. Please click on “view my updates” (under the profile picture) to see pictures of the school and read additional commentary. Mor...
